Aave is getting demolished while the rest of crypto breathes. Down -4.2% in 24 hours compared to Bitcoin's +1.9% and Ethereum's +2.2% gains. This is not a small dip — it is a 17.1 percentage point underperformance against ETH alone in a single day. The market is green across the board, but Aave is bleeding red. That divergence is the signal.
The 4-hour chart is ugly. Aave just printed a bearish engulfing pattern — a classic reversal signal where the current candle fully engulfs the previous one. RSI sits at 35.8, hovering in oversold territory but not yet at the extreme levels that typically signal capitulation bottoms. MACD histogram is negative at -0.8229, confirming bearish momentum is accelerating, not fading.
Support sits at USD 105.16 (tested 49 candles ago) with a secondary floor at USD 92.25. Resistance at USD 129.36 — the price is currently trading well below this level, and the gap suggests plenty of room for further downside if selling pressure continues.
Here is what does not add up. Fear & Greed sits at 7 — extreme fear. Historically, extreme fear with positive exchange flows and broad market recovery means accumulation is happening. But Aave is not participating in that recovery. It is dumping.
Either this is a protocol-specific issue with no news catalyst — which makes it curiouser — or smart money is rotating out of yield farming exposure entirely. The lack of any headlines explaining this dump is the most interesting part. No exploit, no governance drama, no regulatory news. Just pure on-chain selling pressure.
The volume tells part of the story. USD 394.7M in 24h for a USD 1.8B market cap token is elevated — that is over 21% of the market cap in volume. This is not retail panic. This is either a large holder exiting or a cascade of liquidations.
Watch the USD 105.16 support level. If that breaks, the next stop is USD 92.25 — a 22% drop from current prices. If support holds, look for a mean reversion play back toward the USD 129 resistance zone.
