The entire NFT sector is getting demolished. BLUR token is trading at 0.02 USD — a level that has held three times in the past 76 candles, yet the charts are screaming bearish. A bearish engulfing pattern just printed on the 4h, MACD histogram is negative, and volume is drying up. By every technical measure, this looks like another leg down.
But here is what the derivatives data is telling me: funding rate sits at +0.0003 — shorts are paying longs to hold positions. Open interest is 28.5 billion with a +2.1% 24h increase. And the kicker: 67 million in liquidations over the past day, with longs getting rekt 2:1 over shorts (45M vs 22M). The crowd is short, crowded, and winning — until they are not.
When Fear & Greed prints 8, extreme fear, and a sector-specific token is getting washed out while funding stays positive and OI keeps climbing, that is not a bear signal — it is a compression chamber. The longs have already capitulated. The bears are crowded in, collecting their funding payments, and breathing easy. That is exactly when the squeeze happens.
The last time I saw this exact combo in a crushed alt was late 2022 in the DeFi sector. Everyone was short, everyone was collecting funding, everyone was "being patient for lower." Then a 40% rip in eight weeks. The pattern does not repeat perfectly, but it rhymes.
Entry: 0.02 USD or better — wait for a candle close above 0.021 if you need confirmation
Invalidation: 0.019 USD — if this breaks, the setup is dead and you size out
Target: 0.025 USD (first leg), 0.028 USD (second leg) — this is a 25**-40%** move from current levels
This is not a leverage play. This is a scale-in spot play. The risk/reward on a bounce off triple-support is favorable. But if you are not comfortable holding through volatility, this is not your play.
The question is not whether this bounces — it is whether you are positioned before the bears realize they are the liquidity. Drop your thesis below. I want to see who is actually reading the data. NFA. DYOR. But if you are ignoring this setup, good luck.
